The Importance of Boat Wash Stations

Taking Action – Promoting Invasive Species Awareness and Prevention

Being cognizant of the serious concern regarding Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS), UMOWA worked diligently with stakeholders and the Missouri River Trout Shop to complete installation of the first boat washing station in Craig. The facility is open to the public at no charge and consists of a high-pressure washer and cleaning supplies as well as a depository for trash. UMOWA is acutely aware of the Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) initiatives in our state and we want to be at the forefront of this most important effort.

What is AIS?

Aquatic invasive species (AIS), are live organisms that are easily spread from one water body to the other. It takes only one mistake to potentially infest a new water body. To protect Montana’s waters and native aquatic species, please click here to follow these rules and guidelines.
